Patrick noticed it as he walked out. He handed his kit off to another officer and had her get it into the SUV, he then went to check on Helena. "Helena?"

Helena stopped, hearing Patrick and looked at him, her face looking paler than usual. "Yeah?" she asked, trying to keep it together, not wanting to show weakness in front of anyone.

Helena sighed, feeling a slight wave of nausea coming up. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath, hoping it would help, or at least keeping her from throwing up in front of Patrick.
"Nothin'." she lied, but she knew he wouldn't buy it this time. She didn't sound very convincing. In fact, she sounded pretty weak and that was exactly how she felt right now. Plus the fact that she felt her temperature burning up.

Patrick noticed it and called the EMTs over to were he was. "This detective is sick and is in need of medical help." he said to the two EMTs when they were close enough to him. The man and woman nodded, then took Helena over to the ambulance.

Helena didn't like that at all. "I'm fine." she said, trying to protest, but it wouldn't help.
Of course it won't work, stupid. You probably look horrible. she thought angrily. As horrible as you feel.
And she couldn't even fight the nausea anymore, though she was embarrassed for that, but she couldn't change it now anyway. She had no idea what was going on, or what she did to end up sick like that.

The EMTs started to treat Helena despite what she told them. "Ma'am, your whiter then a bed sheet, so your not fine." the female EMT said to her in reply as her and partner tended to her.

Helena just closed her eyes for a moment and remained silent. She had no other choice anyway. However, she also didn't know that the EMTs would take her to the hospital, because before she could protest against anything, she simply collapsed.

Patrick and the EMTs noticed it, "Lets go!" the male EMT shouted over to the driver. After getting Helena in, the drove off with her.

Helena quickly came to again as they drove to the hospital. She felt horrible. She was tired, sore and her stomach just hurt. She had a headache and felt that she was burning up with a fever, too. There was no point in fighting against the help she desperately needed now.

At the same time, Patrick was heading back to the lab to go over what they had found. As he drove, he hoped that Helena would be okay. After pulling in, the EMTs got Helena out and into the hospital.

Helena was slowly coming to, although she was burning up a little. She had no idea what was wrong with her. She had been sick before, but this was totally new. She didn't know that she suffered food poisoning.

Patrick didn't know it either as the EMTs continued to treat her. Seconds later, they discovered that Helena had food poisoning and began to treat her accordingly.

Helena actually wasn't happy about the whole situation. She was supposed to be out there, solving this case with Patrick, instead she was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital and who knew how long she was going to have to stay there? Who would solve the case with him now?
Riddles.... that riddle.... what was it all about? Maybe it was about the family itself? After all, it said "four legs, two legs and three legs..." Which was baby, adult and elder. The elder was already killed, but who was next? The next family member of the victim, down to the youngest?
At least Helena would have more than enough time to think about it, while she was hopefully getting better fast.

Patrick was racking his brain about the same thing. He had to admit that he was stumped by this case, but they still had to figure it out.
