Nicole smiled a bit when Danny said that, then went back to working on the ropes. She used one of the knots she learned from her infantry training to help secure the boat. After finishing, she stood back and waited for Danny.

Danny got the cooling bag with their lunch out of the boat and then joined Nicole on land. He had done a small exploring tour the weekend his friend took him out here with the boat, so he actually knew where he wanted to take her. But of course, he wouldn't tell. He actually liked playing the mysterious guy today.
Danny didn't actually put his shoes back on, mostly because he didn't pull the legs of his pants up, when he got out and they were wet now. He didn't mind walking on his bare feet for a little while. There was only the desert-like sand around anyway. Maybe a couple of small stones in it, but he didn't really mind.
"Well, ready to go?" he asked.

Nicole nodded after getting her shoes back on. "I'm ready" she replied, smiling a bit as she said that to him. She got her hat back on and stood next to Danny, taking his free hand in her's. "Lets go" she said to him.

With a small nod and smile, Danny held onto her hand, leading her up the hill to the trees, of course carefully watching where he stepped, especially since he did not wear his shoes. But also because he always watched his step when he was out like this.
After a little while, he led Nicole to a spot that was in the bay, in the shadows of the trees on the hill above. It wasn't very big, but it was a nice spot. although not really that close to the water.

Nicole looked around the place that Danny lead her to and smiled a little. "Ace" she said softly before looking back at Danny. "Nice place Danny" she said to him honestly, the smile still on her face as she said that to him. Nicole fixed her hand, then helped get everything set up for them.

"Well, it's not really like a place in paradise, but... has enough privacy." Danny said with a small wink, then took off his light jacket and put it on the ground. He didn't have a blanket, so his jacket would have to do the trick.
Their lunch wouldn't be very fancy, just a few sandwiches, some fruit and chips he packed. And of course something to drink for them, too. But since Danny wasn't exactly hungry yet, maybe they'd be staying here for a little while.

Nicole nodded in reply when Danny said that to her. "I don't mind Danny." she replied. "I'm not a high maintenance sheila." Nicole added while watching him, a slight smile on her face as she said that to him.

"Well in that case... this place should be perfect then." he said in a low tone, giving her a playful smile. "Just nature and us."

That was actually a very nice thought. Not that he would have any naughty thoughts right now, but it didn't hurt to pretend and be a little flirtatious and mess around. That was no crime.
Danny sat down on his jacket on the ground, the cooling back nearby. He would have it between Nicole and himself, so they both were able to reach it.

Nicole noticed it and couldn't help but giggle in reply. "You silly bloke with a charming smile." she teased Danny while watching him, smiling back at him as she said that.

"Hehe." Danny chuckled and looked at Nicole.

Silly... yeah, he could be silly and playful if he wanted to be. And he still was able to be joking around a lot, too, even though he was a grown man. But he rarely did, because he didn't always feel like it. Life was serious enough and he was a responsible and mature guy.
"Least I got one quality." he added in teasing tone.

Danny was satisfied enough, hearing Nicole say that. He really put a lot of thought into this trip, but this and the ride with the jet boat was actually the only surprise he planned for her. Made it even more special, seeing that she liked it.
"I'm glad you do." he said. "Makes this trip even more special."

Danny was actually sad that they would be heading back home the next morning, but they both had to return to work on Monday. At least he knew that this trip was a lot of fun and he had taken a step toward Nicole, he never figured he'd ever take again. He was on his way to happiness again and that was an outcome way better than he originally thought it would be.

Nicole winked at Danny when he said that to her. "No argument here" she replied while watching him. Like Danny, she wished that she didn't have to go back into work the next day. Got to pay the bills Nic she said to herself. That and you have to care for Merlin Nicole added while watching Danny.

Danny smiled a little, then got some of the things for their picnic out of the bag and put them between them. He took one of the water bottles for himself and opened it. The sun wasn't too hot, yet but it soon would be, at least hot enough for you to better not stay out in it too long. This was the desert after all. But they were in the shadow of the trees, which made things a little more comfortable and there was a breeze going from the water.

Danny would make sure, though that they were on their way back, once the sun passed her highest point at noon, so they would be back at their camp in the afternoon.

Nicole took the other bottle that was there and opened it, taking a sip at the same time. After doing so, Nicole started to eat while taking in the area around them. It was clear that she was enjoying this time together and that she didn't want it to end, even though she knew that it would have to at some point.

Danny smiled a little, taking a sip of the slightly cool water. He looked out to the bay and the water, that was sparkling in the sun. It looked nice and peaceful out here, it was very soothing to just sit there and watch the waves as they hit the shore.

After a moment, Danny lie down on his back, folding his arms under his head and looked up at the bright blue sky and the trees. That small smile was still tugged on his face, as he let his thoughts roam around for a little while.

Nicole looked over at Danny as she sat there with him. "Penny for your thoughts?" she asked while watching him. Nicole took a sip of her water after asking that, wondering what was on his mind as they sat there with each other.

"Hm..." he said, lying on his back, but now looking at Nicole. Rays of sunlight were reflecting in his dark brown eyes, giving them a happy spark.
He wasn't quite sure what he had been thinking about. He just remembered that he wasn't this relaxed and comfortable for a long time, not to mention that he was actually happy again. He had a real chance at a good, happy life and he would make sure that he didn't mess it up. He was feeling good and that was also reflecting in his eyes.

"Been a while since I was relaxed like this. Feels good to let go of things that hold you down." he finally replied.

Nicole smiled when Danny said to her. "No argument here" she said to him honestly before looking around the area that they were in. "It would be ace to stay out here, but I know that can't happen." she said to him in the same honest tone while sitting there. Nicole looked back to Danny after saying that to him, wondering what he would say to that.

Danny smiled a little, looking at Nicole. Staying here, just the two of them... that was a nice thought.
"Surely sounds nice, though." he commented.

Sure, if nature wasn't a factor, they could've stayed out here forever, but they wouldn't have anything to eat or drink and it could get a little umcomfortable out there after a while. Not to mention if it was raining.... but the thought was lovely... just the two of them.

Nicole smiled a little when Danny said that to her. "You're not much of the outdoors type are you?" she asked gently while watching him as she held her water bottle. If she had the money, Nicole would love to have a place of her own in a country setting. She smiled a little while thinking of that.

Danny raised his brows in surprise.
"What makes you say that?" he asked, clearly surprised that she thought he wasn't an outdoors type of guy. Actually, he didn't mind the outdoors and he wasn't sure why she thought otherwise. Sure, he hadn't been out camping for a while and he actually prefered to live close to the city, but he liked the country. He loved going to his grandparents' farm in Nashville when he was little. And he still did today, although he didn't have much time to do so anymore.

Nicole watched Danny as he asked her that. "Well, to me, you seemed like the kind of bloke who is more comfortable in the city." she said in the same gentle tone while watching him. Nicole didn't want to make him upset or anything, she was jut saying what she thought. Please don't be upset Danny she said to herself while sitting there.

"Hmm." Danny looked up at the sky for a moment, pondering what she just said. He wasn't upset or anything, just surprised that she thought that way about him. Not that she was entirely wrong about that, though.
"Well... that's just partly true." he then said. "I do like to live close to the city, but I also like the country. Spent many summers at my grandparents' farm in Nashville when I was a kid. Still like going there."
